By advocating for pragmatic approaches to sustainable development, the WSC balances ecological integrity and financial prosperity when evaluating proposed projects and policies that impact a vital resource.
In 2023, leaders from across Greater Lafayette joined together to create a non-partisan oversight committee focused on protecting our community’s water while growing our local economy.
Since then, the WSC has been working to assess projects like the proposed water pipeline to supply LEAP Lebanon, advocating for extensive research and careful consideration before any potential development.

SEPTEMBER 2022
The Indiana Economic Development Corporation (IEDC) requests an initial meeting with the City of Lafayette and Wessler Engineering to say it plans to investigate water resource capabilities along the Wabash River.
November 2022
Initial media reports about the IEDC investigating the possibility of pulling 100-million gallons per day out of the Wabash Alluvial Aquifers to support the development of the new LEAP District near Lebanon.

US Geological Survey meets with the Wabash River Enhancement Corporation (WREC). One of the topics is regarding a Technical Advisory Group for a Wabash River Alluvial Study, plus LEAP Lebanon.
